I have not finished this extrodanery book but so far but I wish I could take it home and read it several times though but after that I will have to read it to freind! My favorite charachter is Martha. She is shy but detumined. It was verrrrrrrry funny in the begining when Martha used to sing anything and everything and it sounded like a cat scealing in pain! He He !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rachel from Blackgates Primary
I havent finished the book yet but so far I am really enjoying it. In the bigining it was a bit boring and I started not to like it but as I got into it I started to really like it. Some of the chapter names were really funny like the brown cheese one. I like the way that there isnt loads of pictures but there is a few and it lets you emagion what they look like but it shows what some of the monsters look like so you dont get to emagion everything. I think the way the norweigen people talk where the v's are pronounced as f's! My faverate character was Marther with at the begining she is always sinning!
Rachel gave Shadow Forest 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The London Eye Mystery.

Shadow forest is a book full of adventures and excitement!! It is a book you cannot put down!! Once you start to read you tend to picture it all in your head its as if you are there your self!! The book is set out perfectly set out with pictures every now and again to set the scene!! Matt Haig must have a very big imagination to come up with so many creatures that are so detailed!! The book starts to build up the tension at the I when the parent’s wont listen to the children and so they die and the children survive!! The beginning reminds me of the series of unfortunate events!! I think if the book was made into a film then I would watch it and buy the DVD and enjoy so much I would be glued to the screen!!!! The dialogue is very crisp and the and there is very good tension as they go in to the forest there is no bad points this book should win by far!!!!!!!!

Shadow Forest is my favoroite book, it's cover really expresses the story of the book. My favoroite part is when Martha and Samuel say they want to go home and they mean Aunt Eda's house, not their old home. Shadow Forest is a book of mystery that I'd recommend to any reader, you can really get yourself absorbed in the story, I even find myself thinking of different endings, Shadow Forest is the second best book I've ever read!

I think that this is possibly the best book on the 9-11 shortlist. The chararcters were well described, the plot was twisty, and the monsters were well described and easy to imagine. The ending was a good one too, so this book was overall very good. Parts of it also made me laugh, such as when the parents died (don't ask) and when the troll got his head chopped off. Overall, this was a good book which I might read again- but probably won't.

This book was amazing! Imagination filled every page and the monsters seemed as if they were going to leap out of the book. Even though it was more of a fantasy adventure, I found it really funny too.My favourite characters was Ibsen and the Tomtegubb( the purple trouser song.) The whole story was brilliant and the extracts from 'The Creatures of Shadow Forest' could be very gory at times. I hope Matt Haig writes another book because if he does I will definitely buy it!

Georgia gave Shadow Forest 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.
Alison from Halton Library
This isn't the sort of book that I would normally pick up but I read it all in one sitting in a car journey from Leeds to London. I thought the book was lots of fun and I loved all the different creatures. I especailly liked the way that the author gave lots of background information particularly when he described what made Professor Tanglewood evil. I would not hesitate recommending this book and indeed I did, to my sister when I was visiting her in London!

I would give this fantastic combination of horror and comedy a, as the Truth Pixi would say, trinkinion out of trinkinion but, unfortunately, I can't. It can only be a five out of five. (Bottomsquelches) Anyway I think Matt Haig is an extremely good author and any book I here he has written will be in my arms as soon as possible!
