Antonio from Blackgates

I though this book was very exciting. Muy favourtie character was Bella because she made the story interesting. I would like to read this story again. The bad thing about it was that i never finished the book.

Antonio gave A Nest of Vipers 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.

Harrison from Blackgates Primary School

At first i thought it was a bit boring but as I read on it grew better and better and better.Cato is my favourite character because he can unlock any lock. My faourite bit is where Cato has to go with Gordan to captain walkers house because Walker needs to be taught a lesson or two because he's a slave captain. If I could change something it would be a simpler plot on captain Walker.

Harrison gave A Nest of Vipers 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Christopher from Benton Park

This book was very interesting and it can be pretty spooky. It were confusing sometimes so that's why it didn't get full marks. The sentences can be long but shorter sentences are included. The description is good but could of been better. It made me stand up and shout at the book and that's what this book is good for. It makes you feel like you are actually in the book. Well done Catherine Johnson

Christopher gave A Nest of Vipers 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Shadow Forest.

Sarah from Ninelands Primary

I realy wasnt keen on this book because of the changes of first person, it got quite confusing!!! along with that it wasnt quite my kind of book. I personaly like books with short, but detailed, sentances. So im geusing this book could have been okay for some people but for me its got to be a 1/5 ):

Sarah gave A Nest of Vipers 1 out of 5.

langa from City of Leeds

langa gave A Nest of Vipers 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.

Louise from Ninelands Primary School

I really enjoyed reading A Nest of Vipers, my favourite part was when Cato escaped from being hanged, and instead went to live in Bath. The way that the author started the book really suited it. I liked the way that it started in a prison cell, and that the story of what happened previously was told, and then it continued from it's current point. Although, I didn't like the way that, when you were really absorbsed in the book it kept taking you back to the present, that is why I'm giving it a four.

Louise gave A Nest of Vipers 4 out of 5 and now plans to read The London Eye Mystery.

Helena from Ninelands Primary School

I thought this book was very interesting and is one of my favourite books from Leeds Book Awards so far.

Helena gave A Nest of Vipers 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.

Hannah from Ninelands Primary School

I love this book and was my second favourite of them all so far. I loved all the characters tricky skills, especially bella when she marries people to get their money! I also think it can get quite emotional when cato explains his feeling for addeline. My favourite character was addeline because I thought she put a lot of the efforts into the plans they made. Because of all this I am giving this book a 5 out of 5.

Hannah gave A Nest of Vipers 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.

Akeel from Talbot Primary School

I thought that the book I had read was quite interesting, but I think the part where the Captain gets taught a lesson is the best. The best character is Hopkins. It is exciting but funny and good writing.

Akeel gave A Nest of Vipers 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Bethany from Stanningley Primary School

I hated the book because it changes from the first person to the writer talking about the person.

Bethany gave A Nest of Vipers 1 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.

Chloe from Stanningley Primary School

I apslotley hate this book, you couldn't understand it and it was really boring the first chapter was ok but the others were so boring.

Chloe gave A Nest of Vipers 1 out of 5.

Ellen from Lady Elizabeth Hastings Thorp Arch

I though it was a really good book but sometimes it was a bit confusing and you couldn't really understand some of the old fashioned words. I really liked the way she wrote it as a flashback and the way that it was in the first person. Overall it was a very good book and I would like to read more of Catherine Johnsons books.

Ellen gave A Nest of Vipers 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Anna from Lady Elizabeth Hastings Thorp Arch

I think that A Nest of Vipers was a really good book and I would love to read another of Catherine Johnsons books! It was quite interesting and quite easy to read, though there were a few old-fashioned words which I didn't understand. I think the story line is easy to follow. Overall the book was 2nd best I think!

Anna gave A Nest of Vipers 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

christopher from Benton Park School

This is a fantasy book it is very creepy and mischievous when I first looked at the name it put hairs on the back of my neck I didn’t know what to think this book is all about mother Hopkins who wants to carry out a con to ruin captain walker who is a slave captain and the family of vipers are going to teach him a lesson. As the book carries on you find this book is too exciting to put it down as I found when I started to read it. I think this book best suites the audience of both boy and girls and is based aged for 8-16. I would rate this 7/10

christopher gave A Nest of Vipers 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.

A from Ossett School

I think that the nest of vipers is a really good enthralling book as it's a really well thought out plot. Plus, the characters are well written and you sympathise with them. To improve the book I think that the writer could describe the setting and some of the scenes more.

A gave A Nest of Vipers 3 out of 5.

Alex from Lady Elizabeth Hastings Thorp Arch

i THINK THE BOOK WAS VERY GOOD BUT IT WASHARD TO GET INTO.

Alex gave A Nest of Vipers 4 out of 5 and now plans to read The London Eye Mystery.

Daniel from Lady Elizabeth Hastings, Thorp Arch

I really liked this book. It's a really good plot and the little catchphrase on the front cover made me want to read it. The characters talked a bit 1712'ish language which made it a bit difficult to understand sometimes, but the picture on the front cover made it easier because you know what they look like.

Daniel gave A Nest of Vipers 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Kate from Ninelands Primary

Alex from Lady Elizabeth Hastings Thorp Arch

For me this book was not very exciting there was literarly no excitment at all I managed to read 111 pages and literally nothing happend. The only excitng bit was a chase through a town square still boring though.

Alex gave A Nest of Vipers 2 out of 5 and now plans to read Council of Evil.

Laura from Boston Spa School

I liked A Nest of Vipers, because it had an interesting storyline and I could get stuck into it quite easily. Sadly, in quite a few parts of the story, it became hard to understand what was going on, who was saying what, or doing what. If it had been a little more understandable, I would have probably given it a higher rating.

Laura gave A Nest of Vipers 3 out of 5.

Rianne from Boston Spa School

I think that this book is rubbish and too complicated for the people meant to read it. I got bored halfway through, forgot what had happened and so I had to start it again. It was so rubbish I eventually gave up, so I know there is an OK beginning, and rubbish middle and hardly any plot at all. It was all over the place and I definitely wouldn't try again.

Rianne gave A Nest of Vipers 2 out of 5.

Remmy from Boston Spa High School

It was OK. Not the best in the world, but bearable. Just. The plot was interesting though. I'll give it that.

Remmy gave A Nest of Vipers 2 out of 5.

Jasmine from Boston Spa School

Personally I didn't like this book. The language was quite complicated and didn't grip you like some of the other books in this short list, because of this I gave up with it half way through. The whole book was ruined slightly and the plot could have been better.Over all I thought this would have been alot better than what it was.

Jasmine gave A Nest of Vipers 1 out of 5 and now plans to read Shadow Forest.

gheorghe from Boston Spa

This book was all right, but it wasn't my type of book, and certainly wasn't that well written, because there were a LOT of difficult parts that were confusing to understand because the description was often poor

gheorghe gave A Nest of Vipers 2 out of 5 and now plans to read Cosmic.

The Nest of Vipers was a poor book in my opinion with too complicated language and a by far complicated plot. The number of people that would properly understand this book would be quite rare. The book itself is not very good.
