What's it about?
Shabti wakes in a barley field with nothing but a hoe in his hand and a head full of fragmented memories. A vicious master torments his days, working in the fields with no way of escape, until a hole suspended in mid-air leads him to a room. Two shiny gold eyes glitter back at him. Questions. Who is he? L.J. Adlington has 2 cats, both of which feature in The Glittering Eye. As a child she loved reading Enid Blyton stories but her all time favourite books are Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas.

Steve Voake is also the author of The Dreamwalker’s Child, The Web of Fire and The Starlight Conspiracy. Before becoming a full time writer, Steve was headteacher of a village school in Somerset.

When he's not writing Chris enjoys listening to punk and SKA and watching diabolically bad horror films. He possesses the uncanny ability of being able to predict who will die and in what order after seeing only the first five minutes of these movies.
