I loved the book as it left many shocking and unexpected bits coming out of the book as you fianlly got closer to the answers. My question is what happened to Raymond and is he killing the animals???

I thought that this book was definitely different to what I would normally read. At the begining, I thought that it was a little slow to get into, but that soon changed when I really got into it. I think that Kevin Brooks really capured what it is like to be a bored teenager in the summer holidays, and what it would be like to meet up with old friends. The description is really detailed, and I always knew what was going on. This is a book that will stay with you for a while after you have read it.

very good. The only thing is that the plotline changes mid story. Where IS Raymond?

I didn't particularly like this book as I found it really hard to get into. It got better about half way through and I did end up enjoying it but I think the first half spoiled it as it just seemed to drag a lot and made me want to stop.

I thought this book was really weird and that the plot was quite complicated. I didn't really like tis book as a lot was going on all at once and it got confusing after a while. One of the reasons that I didn't like this book is that don't think it is very realistic and too much happened in the story.

Ellie from Boston Spa School
This book was really complicated but by persevering, after about the first 80 pages it became much easier to read and you were SERIOUSLY drawn in. It had a crazy storyline which kept you guessing all the way through, but in some places it was a bit boring because nothing seemed to be happening. Every time you though you had the answer, something else would turn up and you were thrown off course, wondering what would happen next.
I found the ending slightly disappointing because not all your questions were answered and it left me screaming for a sequel. I doubt there will be though = (

This book, even if complicated, is fab!! The storyline is great and after every chapter you have uncovered new mysteries and are desperate to solve them but as soon as you think you know the answer BANG !! something new is uncovered and you are completed thrown off in a different direction and are left wondering what the answer could be...

I really enjoyed Road of the Dead by Kevin Brooks but I didn't quite enjoy Black Rabbit Summer as much. I was slightly disappointed with the ending as it tells us where Stella has gone but what about Raymond. Once you get into the story it is really gripping and mysterious but the end is a let down.

Black Rabbit Summer is -in short- brilliant. the storyline was gripping, suspenseful and to a degree, terrifying. its entwined characters and plot made this book truly fantastic.
kevin brooks has a great writing technique, weaving the past with the present and creating a creepy atmopsphere. although the story isnt exactly whaat you expect having read the blurb, i wasnt disappointed. i know its an old cliche, but i honestly couldnt put this book down. it took me no more than 2 1/2 hours to read this book, not because im a fast reader but because it genuinely sucks you in and you become part of the story.
the ending revelations shocked me and were unexpected.
i would definately recommend this book to anyone, no matter what their preferred reading genre - i promise you, you wont be disaappointed.

Nick from Morley High School
I do not believe that it is for all students. The idea of a friend abducting another friend and killing them wasn't nice. Although as went through the book the investigation into the abduction was brilliant

The book itself was perfectly written, it was undoubtably Kevin Brook's best book since perhaps Kissing the Rain. The plot suited it nicely, if a little bit complicated, it was a perfect read and was well written in a style easy to get into too. It was long and the charcters were interested, the only things that I didn't like was that the ending didn't provide a clear ending with a missing person still unexplained. Overall, veyr good and one of my favourite books.

Charlotte from Boston Spa School
I think the author of black rabbit summer helps the reader understand the characters really well by giving the true emotions and feelings of each character at each part of the story. It helps the reader also get to grips with the very violent and topical plot. I would recommend black rabbit summer to anyone but it does contain very strong topics and a lot of violence. Therefore you may not want read it but 5 out of 5 completely!!!
