Liz from Allerton Grange High school

I thought this book was great because it really picked up on what girls go through as teens.

Liz gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5.

Jessica from Allerton Grange High School

It was an ok book, definetely not as good as Chris Higgings other books. It was one of those where the beggining is too long and boring and you are tempted to skip to the good part.

Jessica gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Invisible City.

Karina from Parklands Girls High

this book is about a teenager who does gymnastics but also she has family troubles as well has her own

Karina gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Belinda from Benton Park

I don't usually like this genre and would usually give it a 1 but this book grabbed me more than any of this genre I have read, as it has more of a plot.

Belinda gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5.

Jenny from Benton Park Technology College

A Perfect Ten is a fabulous book aimed at teenage girls about a young gymnast named Eva who has to go through all the usual challenges of growing up. Not only does Eva have this on her plate but she also has family troubles, but is it her fault that this is happening and will she be able to live with her regrets...?
Her secrets threaten to surface when new girl Patty joins her gymnastic club and may also be a threat to, Eva losing her best friends.
I think A Perfect Ten is a very comforting book for teenage girls as it shows that everybody has problems and that we should just try and get on with our lives as best as we can. I think this because although Eva struggles at times she still manages to make everything work out as best as she can. The book holds a very important message that if we fail at something we should try again until we get it right and I personally believe that Chris Higgins got that message through very clearly and entertainingly.

Jenny gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Belinda from Benton Park

This type of book is not my favourite type though it is one of the best I have read. I didn’t really understand Eva so couldn’t understand why she did what she did.Eva is the top gymnast at her club, so when new, fat girl Patty (Doughnut) joins and takes all the attention, she tries to find ways to humiliate her. Then her mother has to go in for counselling over her sister, Ambers death, Eva must find a way to keep her friends and her darkest secrets secret.

Christopher from Benton Park School

This book is not my cup of tea but still read it its all about some friend who are like most people really into sports thought I didn’t read it all I would imagine boys who are about 12+ would not really like this book as the front cover would show but if there are girls like most of you like sports defiantly I would read this book even I didn’t get to the end of this book but maybe one of you could I would rate this 4/10 but I would rate that as I am a boy.

Christopher gave A Perfect Ten 1 out of 5 and now plans to read The Kiss of Death.

Daniel from Benton Park Technology College

I thought this book was kinda boring as I am a boy and it didn't appeal to me at all. The story was kind of weird and it only really got going by the end.

Daniel gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5.

Georgi from Boston Spa School

I rate this book a 4 because I enjoyed the story line, how the book was written and the personalities of the characters. The only reason why I didn't give it a 5 was because of the other books I have read, it isn't one of the books that WOWED me due to the fact that it didn't have many exciting parts.

Georgi gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5.

Elisabeth from Prince Henry Grammar School

The main character is really good at gymnastics. But then a new girl joins who’s even better then her at gymnastics. Then her mum which gets lots of panic attacks gets taken to a special centre to try and help sort it out but then the main character ends up going anorexic. And the ending is so well written that it made me cry and that doesn't happen very often. Its a really good book and I would recommend it to everyone.

Elisabeth gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read The Kiss of Death.

Sammy from Allerton Grange High School

As I am a boy and this is a girls book I didn`t enjoy reading this. I found the story dull, boring and weird. I also didn`t like the characters as I thought they were unreal and no-one acts like that in real life. However, I do like the style of writing. 1st person naratives are more in-depth and helped me understand the plot better. But, I didn`t understand the character of her sister and was confused as to what was going on there. I can see a girl liking this book but unfortunately it wasn`t for me.

Sammy gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5.

Rowan from Temple Moor High School

The story has many twists and turns, it gets you believing something and then it turns it into something else. I really wanted to beable to relate to the character, but everytime i turned the page she had transformed and had a differnt attitude towards her life. Although the plot wasn't very well structured- it had an interesting outcome, it was something that you wouldn't expect. It is a typical story for a young girl, although for me i didn't think that it explained anything in detail. For example, the authour would tell the reader aboot the characters facial expressions, but not envolve the surroundings by using metaphores and similies to engage the reader. For me, this is the best way to really get into a book, the authour should explain everything from someone's emotions, to the way they move and act with their emotions.
Overall i thought that the storyline was clever and captivating. This is perfect for a girl aged 10-12 although unfortunately it isn't the book for me.

Rowan gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5.

Daniel from Allerton Grange High School

THIS IS A BRILL book but i wouldnt recomend to any boys at is its more of a femmanin book.

Daniel gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Invisible City.

Sonia from Allerton Grange High School

With the style of the auther Jaquline Wilson a perfect ten was a great book! Though it was more of a girls book than a unisex one .

Sonia gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Manisha from Allerton Grange High School

I really liked the perfect ten it was a good story to read!!!!!

Manisha gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Zoe from Boston Spa School

I tried to go into this book with an open mind as I wouldn't normally go for this type of book but as it turns out it was quite a good storyline although when Eva had dreams of her awful day I found myself getting quite confused and trying to work out whether she was still dreaming or not. Overall I have to give this book a 2 as the storyline was good but everything else wasn't that good therefore...a 2!!

Zoe gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5 and now plans to read Scared to Death.

Hannah from Temple Moor

I really enjoyed this book. Couldnt put it down once I'd picked it up. I have read some of Chris Higgins' other books and they are all as good. I think I enjoyed the book because quite a lot of girl's can relate to it.

Hannah gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Invisible City.

Georgina from Temple Moor High School

This was a great book. I couldn't stop reading. The way that the book was set out and the way it was written captured me and i would be happy to read it again anytime!
Chris Higgins is clearly a talented author. Keep up the good work is my advice!

Georgina gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Kiss of Death.

ann-marie from Temple Moor High School

This book was brilliant-best I have ever read! This book was definitely 5/5 and I hope others enjoy/enjoyed it too! I liked how it wasn't set at just one place. It was very down to earth and believable.

ann-marie gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Scared to Death.

celica from Allerton High School

this book is excelent and i would love t read it again .

celica gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Invisible City.

Maddy from Boston Spa School

I found this book rather boring. It was quite well written, but it was quite dull, and generally not my kind of book.

Maddy gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5.

Louise from St Mary's

this book was very very good and it was a bit boring at times but over all it was very very good.

Louise gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Zachary from Prince Henrys Grammar School

It's ok really, but definitely not my kind of book. It dosn't have the in depth description of an emotional book, which this book is really. It talks about friends, gymnastics and her sister. Thats basically it. Wouldnt reccomend it.

Zachary gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5.

sophie from Temple Moor

A well written book revealing the tought and feelings of the main character.i enjoyed it as it was a down to earth plot that girlsd can relate to. A perfect 5.

sophie gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Declaration.

Ellie from Boston Spa School

I like reading loads of different genres of books, so I’ve read plenty of stereotypical girly books, and this wasn’t really that special. I found it was fairly easy to read and described perfectly the feelings and insecurities of teenagers and the problems they face.
I was curious to read this book because I do loads of gymnastics but to be honest I found that I was more interested in the fact I knew what all the moves were than in the actual story...

Ellie gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5.

Jasmine from Boston Spa School

I hate to be negative but this book really was not my thing.Although it was slightly boring it was written really well. The way in which Eva's dreams took place and told the reader all about that tragic day is really good.It talks alot about the ups and downs of friendships and family life at home and how these affect the people in the story in different ways.If you are into quite girly reads and if you like authours like Jacqueline Wilson and Cathy Cassidy this book is so for you but otherwise its not a book thats in my top ten reads to be quite honest.

Jasmine gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5 and now plans to read The Kiss of Death.

Katherine from St. Mary's, Menston

I thought this was a really good book. The story is interesting and well-written. Sometimes it was quite funny but other times it was a little sad. I think this book is for anyone, not just for girls. The cover of the book looks girly but the story isn't. I gave this book 5 out of 5 because it was a great read.

Katherine gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Declaration.

Stephen from Temple Moor High School

I disliked this book because it was on a girly subject and had a weak plot however this book is written well.

Stephen gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5 and now plans to read The Kiss of Death.

Remmy from Boston Spa High School

It was bearable. I know a couple of people who would like it. Too bad I didn't. It was boring because that kind of thing just does not intrest me.

Remmy gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5.

Rianne from Boston Spa School

I think that the cover of this book makes you assume that this book is and extreme girly book, which I wouldn't normally read. The plot was OK and the way it was written was OK but not amazing. As I don't read this type of book, I didn't really expect it to be amazing, and it wasn't- but maybe that was just me. My favourite character was Eva because she is bossy and selfish at times, and described relly well.

Rianne gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5.

Roshni from Roundhay

I thought it was a very good book and not quite as girly as it looks on the front cover! It has a deep story line and a gripping secret, but sometimes gets alittle away from the point. Its all about a girl called Eva, who is crazy about gymnastics. Her life gets turned upsidedown when a new girl joins her group and her mum leaves on a 'residential'. A think its a very detailed but intersting book that would be perfect for a troubled teenager.

Roshni gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Jess from Allerton Grange

It was a brilliant book,I couldn't put it down.I did think it was more for girls but I think boys could read it too.I highly recommend it to anyone who likes a good book.

Jess gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read The Declaration.

Mj from Boston Spa High School

I am not usually one to pick up a girls book and am usualy disapointed by the story. This book was a little different but to me nothing special. The story really captured a teenagers mind and how we deal with people we love who have gone and also teenagers obsessions with their appearance. Sadly this book fell into my expecatons of a classic girls book but I think the cover makes you think it will be really girly but it does have a good plot.

Mj gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5.

Emma from Allerton Grange

this book tells a realy good story and i would recomend this book to a friend it had a good plot and i would read it again

Emma gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Declaration.

CARRIE from Allerton Grange High

A CLEVERLY WRITTEN BOOK WITH A POOR SUBJECT MATTER AND WEAK PLOT

CARRIE gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5.

Eloise from Allerton Grange High School

It is a good book for 11s over. The story line is good and Chris Higgins is a good writer.

Eloise gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Tonicha from Morley High School

This book was a real thought provoker. There were all sorts of things to think about as you read it. Whilst it does not necessarily appear to be so, this book covers very important issues without making them very obvious at first. The way Chris Higgins covered the emotional aspects of this book was amazing. Contrary to first impressions formed by the cover design, the book is not a really girly novel, it has all sorts of meanings that make it very interesting and makes the audience empathetic. A fantastic read, especially when you feel that your life isn't what you'd like it to be.

Tonicha gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Kiss of Death.

Rebecca from Morley High

this is a really fun book to read, the author lets you get to know the charactures, it looks like a good book for girls but its also a good book for boys even though the main person is a girl. the story board is very strong and really makes you think if the main person is diong the right thing or just what you think is the right thing. and when you find out something that she never told any you start you is that the right think

Rebecca gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Declaration.

Chloe from Morley High

eva is a interesting character the author has managed to write from the bullies point of veiw which amazing i loved the book I felt that the she had good reasons to fell like that but does not excuse the why eva acted to patty or why she called her names

Chloe gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read Scared to Death.

Chloe from Morley High

brill best book i've read in the shortlist easy to understand and could not take my eyes off it sooooooooooo intervesting

Chloe gave A Perfect Ten 5 out of 5 and now plans to read The Declaration.

Ella from Roundhay School Technology College

The book shows the problems and worries of an average teenage girl, it expresses feelings and emotions of Eva and how she, like every other girl, wants to be the ultimate most popular girl in the school. The book relates to everyday problems of a teenage girl. Chris Higgins is an exellent author, not the first person i would think of as the author as a girly book like this but ienjoyed reading this.

Ella gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read The Kiss of Death.

Darren from Boston Spa School

A Perfect Ten is a girly book and is definately not suited to me, but after having read other girly books for the awads last year, I have to admit, I think it was better then I imagined, it wa still boring, without a decent plot, with unrealistic ideas and no ending but I still found it OKish, I'd give it 2/5 just!!!

Darren gave A Perfect Ten 2 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Jessica Lea from Parklands Girls High

A Perfect Ten is a book about a group of girls who are best friends and take part in a gymnastics competition. There is a new girl in the gymnastics competition who turns out to have moved to their school. This book isn't as girly as you think. I would recomend this book for both sexes. The main girl is called eva and when her mum goes into rehab her life begins to fall apart.

Jessica Lea gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

AZHAR from ALLERTON GRANGE

IT IS GOOD HOW THE WRITER TELLS THE STORY OF THE CRASH IN EVAS DREAMS TO BUILD UP MOMENTUM

AZHAR gave A Perfect Ten 3 out of 5 and now plans to read Blood Ties.

Charlotte from Boston Spa School

A perfet ten seems like a girly book, at first glance, due to the girly cover, but once you start to read it, it doesn't seem as girly as you first thought. It is a story of a girl called EVA who wishes to be perfet at everything she does. She is a very talented gymnast but when her mum goes to rehab her life starts to fall apart.
I thing this book is very unlike anything else in this catergorie but is definatly worth reading (even for the boys!).

Charlotte gave A Perfect Ten 4 out of 5 and now plans to read Invisible City.
